烏拉圭在2025年1月7日成為專利合作條約 (Patent Cooperation Treaty) 的會員國，烏拉圭專利局日前宣布，烏拉圭國民與居民向烏拉圭專利局或者國際局 (International Bureau) 提交PCT國際申請案時，除了可指定巴西專利局與智利專利局作為國際檢索局 (International Searching Authority) 外，亦可指定西班牙專利局。
