澳洲專利局宣布自2022年7月1日起，若一發明專利申請案內具核苷酸和／或胺基酸序列表，則該序列表須遵循世界智慧財產權組織 (World Intellectual Property Organization, WIPO)  ST.26標準提交，前述標準將取代現行的WIPO ST.25標準。此變動適用的案件類型包含所有一般發明專利申請案與PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) 國際申請案。WIPO ST.26標準適用於包含以下序列表的所有發明專利申請案：

• 具10個或以上的全面定義的殘基的任何核酸序列 (DNA、RNA) ；與
• 具4個或以上的完全定義的殘基的任何肽（含環肽）的序列。
