TIPO Extends Pilot Program for Accelerated Examination of Invention Patent Applications Filed by Female Applicants Through June 30, 2027
TIPO launched the “Pilot Program for Accelerated Examination of Invention Patent Applications Filed by Female Applicants” on July 1, 2025, and the program was originally set to expire on June 30, 2026. Since its launch, the average time from an applicant’s request under the program to receipt of examination results has been notably reduced to only 44.2 days. By comparison, according to the TIPO Annual Report 2025, the average first office action pendency for invention patents was 8.0 months.

To encourage women to engage in innovation and help them obtain patent protection more quickly, TIPO has evaluated its current examination capacity and decided to extend the pilot program without modification through June 30, 2027.
