Fan-Jiuan Wei has been appointed as our new Senior Specialist in the International Services Department. Graduating in 2007 from the JD program of Franklin Pierce Law Center and being admitted into the New York Bar in January 2008 have been the latest achievement in an already successful career.
Before law school, Fan-Jiuan completed a bachelor thesis with three years of molecular biology research. Having acquired sound scientific training, Fan-Jiuan's interest turned toward the legal conflicts in her field and she began working in the Law College at National Taiwan University (NTU) researching legal issues and the development of the biotech industry; being principally related to international biotechnology legal analysis and resulting in publication of several articles in law journals. This reputation allowed her access to interview people from government, industry and academia regarding the development of biotechnology industry in Taiwan.
Having taken a summer internship at Lee and Li, the biggest law firm in Taiwan, where Fan-Jiuan helped draft responses to Official Actions, translated patent applications and governmental guidelines, and conducted legal research on US patent law issues, she returned to graduate from the Franklin Pierce Law Center. To conclude her study, Fan-Jiuan completed specific coursework in intellectual property laws and drafted a patent application to further her understanding of the US intellectual property law and her ability to deal with international legal issues in intellectual property practice.
After graduating from law school, Fan-Jiuan's desire to provide in depth intellectual property legal services to clients, especially within her specialized field, brought her to Tai E International Patent & Law Office, the leading specialized IP firm in Taiwan.
